Introduction:
      Laboratory of Biomedical Material Engineering, founded in Dec. 1996, is one of the firstly approved groups supported by ‘Knowledge Innovation Program’ of Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). The group leader is Professor (mentor of doctoral candidate) Xiaojun MA. Based on chemistry and chemical engineering disciplines such as polymer materials, membrane science & technology, and cooperated with disciplines such as biology, medical science and pharmacy, we are mainly pursuing research of microcapsule membrane science & technology and application in biomedical materials and tissue engineering. At present, there are 9 staffs (including 2 retirees re-engaged), 1 elected ‘100 Talents Program’ of CAS, 2 senior visiting scholars. We can also co-recruit graduates with Professors Quan YUAN (Member of CAS), Xingju YU and Huilin CHEN. 2 post-doctors and 2 doctor candidates have graduated, and 13 doctor candidates and 16 master candidates are studying for degrees. There are many scientific facilities including Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope, Particle Size Analyzer, UV spectrometer, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer, Intelligent Dissolution Tester, Cell Culture System, photometer of enzyme-labeled assays, Microscopes (Inverted, Fluorescence, and Biology), Centrifuges, Preparation System of Microcapsules, and Laser Cell Fusion System. So far, We have applied over 20 patents, published 2 books and over 40 papers in peer-reviewed journals.

Research Interests:
      With the discipline advantage of chemistry and chemical engineering, and combining with biological and medical sciences, we have been pursuing the research and applications of biomedical material engineering and tissue engineering based on microcapsule membrane technology, which will make positive contribution to the health and quality of human beings.
