New EB Units on DICP Technology Flourishing
 
    

     "Optimal Integration Technology for the Production of ethylbenzene(EB) from Fluidized Catalytic Cracking(FCC) Dry Gases via Gas-Phase Alkylation and Liquid-Phase Transalkylation", a third generation technology package developed by DICP and collaborated with other Chinese industrial organizations, has been getting into a booming state. On 16th July this year, a 100,000t/a installation was commissioned successfully at the Daqing Petrochemical-Refining Co. Then on 18th August, another unit of 80,000t/a was put into manufacture operation at the Xinghua Petrochemical Co. of the Shandong Province, and high quality EB was produced on the next day of the start-up, with both ethylene conversion and EB selectivity >99%. Another installation at the Anqing Petrochemical Co. of SINOPEC in the Anhui Province, with a capacity of 100,000t/a, is going to be put on stream next week.
     EB is a large-quantity raw material for the plastic industry, which is traditionally produced with pure ethylene and benzene. In the DICP technology, the ethylene comes as a side product from the dry gases of the FCC processes at petro-refining factories, thus lowering the production cost remarkably.
