Message from the Institute Director

Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) is an institute engaged in both basic and applied researches. DICP has strong abilities in technology development and is a well-known R&D center in chemistry and chemical engineering. The mainstay of our institute is to undertake key research projects contracted by government sectors and industrial enterprises.       On August 20, 1999, Mr. Jiang Zemin, Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China,President of the People's Republic of China, and Chairman of the Military Committee of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China,inspected our institute. At the end of his inspection, President Jiang gave a remark to DICP in a calligraphic hand-writing as follows:"Implement the Knowledge Innovation Project of China and make DICP a first class institute of the world!" President Jiang's instruction is a great encouragement to the staff of DICP, and we will do our best to realize what President Jiang has expected from DICP. In the new epoch of the 21st Century, we will orient our research mainly in the direction of selectivity control in chemistry and chemical engineering, and will work creatively to achieve progresses in basic research and Hi-Tech innovation, as well as in the development of Hi-Tech enterprises. Meanwhile, we will further enforce the reforming of our institute to establish a modernized research system in DICP, which will be fully competent with the international standard, so as to realize the strategic goal of making DICP a first class institute of the world.       I have the pleasure of expressing my sincere welcome to scientific institutions, universities, enterprises and all sectors of the society to participate in extensive and rewarding collaborations with our institute. I also sincerely welcome outstanding and talented scientists from China and abroad to work in our institute.
